The sky is NOT your limit!
Where did we get the idea of "the sky is your limit?" At first, it sounds encouraging to tell someone something like this "... keep it up bro, the sky is your limit!"
How can the sky that you can "see" be your limit? It is refreshing to just know that there is a place beyond the sky. Why then can't we challenge ourselves to reach farther beyond the sky? Why do we have to be limited by this "high sky" that we can see? I call it "high sky" because, hey! to get to the sky is actually not easy, it is hard work that pushes you to the level of the sky! But then, when you get there, what's next?
It is also so refreshing to see the Scripture confirm this same logic I just described. Psalms 148:4 clearly allude that there is a place above the heavens. So then I know that my limit is not just the heavens I can see, but the "waters" above the heavens.
Now, let's translate this logic to our lives. It is good to reach for success, and actually, you should aspire to be successful. Of course, you have to define what that means to you. But, when you get to the destination of your aspiration, do you then rest on your laurels and keep celebrating your success until it becomes obsolete? Or do you reach for more, go for the "waters" above your present heavens? To me, I interpret the waters as opportunities above your present reality. Note the word "waters" and NOT "water" - the unlimited region, the place of endless possibilities where you never arrive, but keep going!!!
The celebration party for your present success is almost over, it is time to get up and reach for more. Challenge your status quo! Don't be fooled by the mirage of today's success, it is soon fading away and new realities are soon upon you. The world is moving and you've got to keep moving. With God on your side, you can indeed reach for the "waters" above your heaven.
